Andy Murray came through the longest match of his career to reach the third round of the 2023 Australian Open.

The 35-year-old came from two sets down to defeat home favourite Thanasi Kokkinakis 4-6 6-7 (4) 7-6 (5) 6-3 7-5 after five hours and 45 minutes on court.

Murray's win came after he defeated 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini in a gruelling opening match in Melbourne. He saw a two-set lead evaporate and saved a match point in the decider before coming through in five sets against the 13th seed.

The former world No.1 saw his challenge in 2023 ended in the third round, though, as he lost a four-set battle to fellow experienced campaigner Roberto Bautista Agut.
