Eimantas Stanionis and Vergil Ortiz Jr. are both finally ready to return to the ring and will face off for the former's WBA (regular) welterweight title on July 8.

The fight takes place at the AT&T Center in San Antonio and will air live on DAZN.

A Golden Gloves silver medalist in 2016, Ortiz made his pro debut later that year. In 2021, the talented Texan scored stoppage wins over former champion Maurice Hooker and former world title challenger Egidijus Kavaliaus. His last bout was in August 2022 against Michael McKinson, who he also stopped inside schedule.

A 2015 European Championships gold medalist, the 28-year-old Stanionis turned pro in 2017. The Lithuanian has won nine fights via knockout. He last competed in April 2022, when he defeated Radzhab Butaev for the WBA (regular) belt.

Ortiz, 25, was supposed to fight Stanionis in March, but the latter backed out due to an appendectomy. The fight was then booked for April, but Ortiz backed out after suffering from rhabdomyolysis, something he has experienced before. Now, the pair look to make up for lost time.

The winner of this bout could be the next contender for the upcoming undisputed welterweight title fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford.
