Vietnam has a Triton winner after Dao Minh Phu scooped the 50,000 No Limit Hold'Em Eight-Handed event at the Super High Roller Series in Hoi An.

Minh Phu collected 1,670,000 after defeating China's Biao Ding in heads-up despite going into the final duel with a huge chip disadvantage.

A champion wasn't found until 2am local time with the final table lasting several hours as some of the world's best duked it out on the felt.

A cooler saw Sam Greenwood eliminated first at the final table when his open jam with ace-queen unfortunately ran into Benjamin Heath's pocket aces.

The bad luck rolled over to Linus Loeliger, who had been around the top of the leaderboard most of the day, when he flopped a set with pocket queens but Dan Smith's ace-king also flopped a king, and then hit runner-runner ace to have a better full house.

UK pro Benjamin Heath was then out in seventh when he called Biao Ding's ace-queen open jam with pocket jacks and a queen rolled out on the flop.

Karl Chappe-Gatien saw his tournament ended in sixth after his open jam with jack-ten suited walked into the pocket aces of Ding.

Veteran Patrick Antonius held on for dear life through much of the final table but was out fifth after his king-jack failed to improve against Dao Minh Phu's pocket sixes.

With Dan Smith down to vapours, the American managed to ladder into third after Viacheslav Buldygin's pocket kings were beaten by Ding's queen-jack, which turned a straight.

A virtual all-in by Smith soon after was jammed on by Ding's ace-ten suited, which binked a ten on the turn to eliminate the American in third - leaving Ding and Minh Phu to duke it out in heads up with the former enjoying a two-to-one chip lead.

In an epic, lengthy heads up, the chip lead exchanged on a number of occasions before Ding was left crippled when he called Minh Phu's ace-jack jam with ace-eight and failed to improve.

After doubling up from a few blinds, Ding was then finished off by Minh Phu with king-queen suited out drawn by the Vietnamese player's ace-ten suited, with a flush coming on the river.

Russia's Viktor Kudinov was the unfortunate player out on the bubble when he called Lun Loon's pocket queens jam with pocket nines and didn't improve to miss the money.

Several stars missed out on the money including Isaac Haxton, Adrian Mateos, Jonathan Jaffe, Jan Arends, Justin Bonomo, Fedor Holz, Jason Koon and Michael Addamo.
