The first running of the Enjoy Illinois 300 was a wild success. Can the sequel surpass it?

Last year's race was one marked by carnage. Between Ross Chastain's full-throttled driving and Joey Logano's last-lap cunning, the Gateway saw plenty of fireworks on its Cup Series debut.
Last week's race, the Coca-Cola 600, was plenty explosive in its own right. Between postponements, red flag delays, Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott's beef and Ryan Blaney finally snapping his winless streak, it was an event straight out of a Wes Anderson script.
Elliott's No. 9 car is one of the fastest in the field. But it won't be manned by its usual jockey this time around. Elliott was suspended one race for his collision with Hamlin.
Corey LaJoie will take the reins on Sunday. It presents a great opportunity for the Spire Motorsports talent, who has struggled to cement himself in the Cup Series thus far. Perhaps he can showcase his skills with high-grade equipment and bring Elliott's Camaro somewhere it hasn't been all year: victory lane.
