Week 1 of the 2023 NFL regular season is still a couple of months away, but it's never too early to check out the updated NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds. Last season, Jets WR Garrett Wilson became the fifth wide receiver since 2000 to win O-ROY, edging out Saints' WR Chris Olave, Texans' RB Dameon Pierce, and 49ers' QB Brock Purdy.

Looking forward to this year's rookie class, bettors have fallen in love with Falcons' running back Bijan Robinson, who is the favorite (+275) to win O-ROY. Since 2000, eight running backs have won the award, with Saquon Barkley being the last in 2018. It's not farfetched to think that the former Texas Longhorn standout can win the award in Arthur Smith's run-heavy offense. However, he'll get some competition from a trio of rookie quarterbacks (Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson) who could start in Week 1.

Below, we'll look at the updated betting odds for the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and BetMGM's insights on how the public is wagering on the action before training camp.

Robinson's odds to win O-ROY opened at +300 but now sit at +275, which isn't surprising based on what we saw him do in college over the past couple of seasons. The 6-0, 220-pound back was a game-breaker and had multiple performances with 100-plus rushing yards. Many fans and bettors expect Robinson's transition to the NFL to be seamless, as he's joining a Falcons' offense that was third in rushing yards per game last season (159.9).

However, for Robinson to win O-ROY this year, he'll have to put up similar numbers to what we saw from Saquon Barkley in 2018 and Alvin Kamara in '16. Barkley recorded 1,307 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 261 carries while adding 91 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns. When Kamara won the award, he recorded 728 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He also added 81 receptions for 826 yards and five scores. Robinson will have opportunities to make plays in Atlanta's offense but also contend with Tyler Allgeier, who had a solid rookie season (210 carries for 1,035 yards and three TDs), and pass-catching ace Cordarrelle Patterson. At +275 odds, he might be getting overvalued based on his potential and scheme fit.

We also believe rookie WR Rashee Rice is getting overvalued by bettors. His opening odds for O-ROY were +6600 but have quickly shortened to +3300. Many fans expect Rice to be an instant playmaker in the Chiefs' offense that lost JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in the offseason. However, we saw rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore struggle to make an impact in Kansas City last year with 22 receptions (33 targets) for 350 yards, so bettors might want to temper their expectations.

Robinson is getting an overwhelming 23.2 percent of the tickets and 37.6 percent of the handle. He's also BetMGM's biggest liability for OROY, but that could change when the regular season begins.

After Robinson, Gibbs has the second-highest ticket percentage (19) to win O-ROY this season. His skillset is similar to Kamara's, and he will be featured often in Detroit's offense. Gibbs is also the perfect complement to David Montgomery, and at 10/1 odds, there's a better chance of a return on investment than betting on Robinson.

Finally, when it comes to the QB position, Richardson is receiving the highest ticket percentage (15.3), which is higher than Young (8.4) and Stroud (3.2). The former University of Florida standout was selected after Young and Stroud, but many analysts believe he has a higher ceiling and could put up solid numbers in first-year head coach Shane Steichen's offense. However, unlike Young and Stroud, we don't know if Richardson will be the starter when Week 1 rolls around. The Colts signed veteran Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal in the offseason. Minshew was with Steichen in Philadelphia and can hold down the starting job until Richardson is ready to take over.

Quarterbacks have won Offensive Rookie of the Year nine times since 2000 and twice in the past five years, which is a good sign for bettors who want to place a wager on Richardson, Stroud, or Young. All three QBs will get numerous opportunities to go through their growing pains and also have their moments of greatness.
