For the third time in its history, the MLB All-Star Game will be played in Seattle. For the second time, it will be played at the site now known as T-Mobile Park (it was previously known as Safeco Field).

Since the first All-Star Game in 1933 at Chicago's old Comiskey Park, the Midsummer Classic has been a traveling affair. New York has -- perhaps unsurprisingly -- hosted the event the most (nine times), but MLB has liked to keep it on the move. It is more travel-friendly than any other pro sport's All-Star Game since it occurs in summer rather than winter, allowing the league to showcase different environments.

This will be Seattle's first time hosting the exhibition since 2001, providing a symmetry of sorts. Last year marked the first time the Mariners made the postseason since the 2001 Mariners went 116-46, tied for the most wins in a single season in MLB history with the 1906 Cubs. It was the longest active playoff drought in professional sports at the time.

This year, there will be three hometown players representing Seattle at T-Mobile Park. Luis Castillo was selected outright, whereas George Kirby and Julio Rodriguez were brought on as alternates. Although he won't be pitching, Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani will be there as well, alongside the likes of Ronald Acuña Jr., Mookie Betts, and breakout star Corbin Carroll, a Seattle native.

Here's what to know about the 2023 All-Star Game to take place in Seattle.

Where is the MLB All-Star Game in 2023?

MLB is trading palm trees for evergreens this year, as it heads up the coast to Seattle after the 2022 All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

The Mariners will play host at T-Mobile Park in SoDo, Seattle's industrial district. With Lumen Field's iconic arches looming over Edgar's Porch in left field, it will be the the place to be for MLB fans during All-Star Weekend.

The 2023 MLB Draft will take place at Lumen Field -- home of the NFL's Seahawks -- during the weekend as well, along with several events.

It's the third time the All-Star Game has been hosted in Seattle and the second time at 1250 1st Ave. The 1979 All-Star Game took place at the Kingdome and 2001 was played at T-Mobile Park, then called Safeco Field.

Future MLB All-Star Game locations

2023 Seattle (T-Mobile Park)
2024 Arlington, Texas (Globe Life Field)
2025 TBD
2026 Philadelphia (Citizens Bank Park)

2024 MLB All-Star Game: Texas

Texas Ranger fans have an awful lot to be excited about.

They opened their new state-of-the-art ballpark, Globe Life Field, in 2023, and they have four infielders in this year's All-Star Game. They also go into the break leading the AL West, despite marquee offseason signing Jacob deGrom missing most of the season.

2024's All-Star Game will be hosted at Globe Life Field, marking just the second time the Rangers have hosted. They last did so in 1995 at The Ballpark in Arlington (but what was it called?), so it will snap a nearly 30-year hiatus for the Dallas suburb.

2025 MLB All-Star Game

No location has been decided for the 2025 All-Star Game yet, though the Red Sox and Cubs reportedly have expressed interest in hosting.

2026 MLB All-Star Game: Philadelphia

Citizens Bank Park will host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game — and for good reason. The league granted the city the All-Star Game for the same year as the United States' 250th anniversary.

Fans will be able to visit landmarks like the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall during the weekend, which should make for an exciting event. It will be Philadelphia's fifth time hosting the game.
