After signing a three-fight deal with PBC, Canelo Alvarez has finally secured an opponent for his September clash in Las Vegas.
But it's not on Mexican Independence Day and it's not against Jermall Charlo.
Instead, the Mexican boxing star will face Jermall's lighter twin brother, the undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo on September 30th at T-Mobile Arena. The two unified fighters will now face off in the first undisputed vs. undisputed men's fight in the four-belt unification era.
Before signing with PBC, reports indicated Canelo would fight Jermall Charlo, a WBC middleweight title holder, but the bigger Charlo brother is still dealing with personal matters outside of the ring and unable to defend his belt.
Fight Disciples co-host Adam Catterall reacts to the matchup and questions why Canelo can't find an opponent in his own weight class like say... David Benavidez?
