Has Alex Volkanovski ever lost in the UFC?
Alex Volkanovski has finally lost his first ever fight in the UFC, going down to Islam Makhachev in his bid to become a double-champion.
In 2013, he suffered the only loss of his professional career, losing in his fourth career fight after making his mixed martial arts debut the year before.
The defeat came against Corey Nelson when the pair faced off in the Australian Fighting Championship 5 in Melbourne.
Nelson - who currently works as a crane operator - won via TKO when he landed three devastating kicks on Volkanovski.
Since that result, Volkanovski has enjoyed a 21-fight winning streak that has seen him go on to claim the UFC featherweight title.
His career record now stands at 26-2-0.
Alex Volkanovski's UFC career
The Australian made the step up to the UFC in 2016, going on to beat Max Holloway for the UFC featherweight title in 2019.
Prior to that, he won key fights against Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo on his path to the divisional glory.
Volkanovski beat Holloway in a rematch for the title in 2020 before defeating Brian Ortega in September to hold onto the belt.
He most recently beat Holloway in their trilogy fight in July.
His loss to Islam Makhachev in February 2023 was the first blemish on his record since arriving in the UFC, but his featherweight reign still remains in tact.
Volkanovski then got back in the winners' circle in dominant fashion when he put on a masterclass to get Yair Rodriguez out of there in the third round at UFC 290.
