After losing to Devin Haney in June, a rematch clause in his contract was George Kambosos Jr.'s only chance to show he had improved his game. Instead, fighting once again in his backyard in Australia, Kambosos was schooled by Haney.

Haney beat Kambosos via unanimous decision at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. There was no controversy in the scorecards; the judges scored the fight 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110 in favor of Haney, who retains his undisputed lightweight titles.

Now that he has proven he is a true champion, Haney is ready for whoever is next. Vasiliy Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, and Shakur Stevenson are all available.

"We’re taking on all comers. No matter who it is, we want to fight the best fighters in the world. I believe I'm the best fighter in the world. Whoever it is next, bring them on," Haney said.

Kambosos attempted to start hot, switching between his normal stance and southpaw. He had an edge in Round 1; it would be the only ronund where he had one. Both fighters were bleeding: Haney by his eye, Kambosos by the side of his head and his eye. Haney was able to jab away and use his right hand to showcase his defensive skills.

Haney, a calculating boxer, used his skills to counter almost every shot Kambosos had in his arsenal. He was being compared to Floyd Mayweather because of his defense. Kambosos thought he had a solid game plan, but Haney had him figured out.

It was almost as if Haney was engaging in target practice. That becomes even more evident when looking at the CompuBox stats. Haney outlanded Kambosos 202-76. He landed 88 jabs and even landed 34 shots in the 10th round. Kambosos landed double-digit shots twice.

The 23-year-old Haney won the interim WBC lightweight title in 2019. Since then, he has won six straight title fights. Kambosos, who was quiet compared to the first fight, has now lost two in a row after starting his career 20-0.

The Sporting News provided highlights and analysis from Haney-Kambosos 2.
