Two unique styles will clash when Franchon Crews-Dezurn defends her status as undisputed super middleweight champion against former middleweight champion Savannah Marshall on July 1.
Airing on ESPN+ in the U.S. and Sky Sports in the U.K., the fight takes place at the AO Arena in Manchester.
After losing her pro bout to friend and sparring partner Claressa Shields, Crews-Dezurn would win eight of her next nine contests, including two against Maricela Cornejo. She won her last bout against Elin Cederroos to become the undisputed super middleweight champion back in April 2022.
However, “The Heavy Hitting Diva” isn’t worried about ring rust. The champion thrives under pressure and looks forward to defeating Marshall in enemy territory.

“Savannah's a pit stop for me,” Crews-Dezurn said on Sky Sports’ The Gloves Are Off. “Respectfully, disrespectfully, my mission is so much bigger. And if I got to walk through you, walk through hell, the U.K. fans, to make my heaven, it's going to happen.”
Marshall had her undefeated streak snapped against Shields, who she defeated as an amateur, in October 2022. The loss ended her reign as WBO middleweight champion, a title she had held since 2020. Her goal is to rematch Shields in a different weight class and becoming undisputed at 168 is the key. Marshall is ready to let her skills do the talking against Crews-Dezurn.
"She's very physical, her style's almost unorthodox – novicey you could say – but she's made it work for her," Marshall told Sky Sports. "I know there'll be points where I won't be able to keep her off with the jab. I won't be able to keep her at bay the whole fight. So there will be times in the fight where I'll have to dig deep and go toe-to-toe."
Will Marshall’s confidence result in a win? Can Crews-Dezurn continue her reign? The Sporting News is here to give some insight on how to bet on this undisputed super middleweight title fight.

Marshall’s opponents land the second least amount compared to anyone, averaging 6.6 per round. That’s where things can get interesting. Crews-Dezurn is a brawler, someone who likes to swing away. If Marshall can remain calm and slow the pace, she could halt Crews-Dezurn in her tracks. Tiring the champion out will be the key in this fight.
There won't be much of a reach difference (72 inches for Crews-Dezurn and 71 for Marshall), but Marshall towers over the 36-year-old champion (6-0 compared to 5-8). There is the saying, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall," but in Marshall’s case, she has been rock solid against tough opponents.
Pressing forward and using her jab to her advantage, Marshall may be able to overpower Crews-Dezurn, winning undisputed gold and potentially setting up another fight against Shields.
