Novak Djokovic is once again the overwhelming favourite to win Wimbledon, with the all-time tennis great chasing a 24th grand slam singles title.

The 36-year-old already has seven Wimbledon crowns to his name and would go level with the legendary Roger Federer if he won an eighth in 2023.

The bookies believe Djokovic will do the business again, although young upstart Carlos Alcaraz may hold the key to unlocking the veteran Serbian's defences, potentially putting a new name on the Wimbledon trophy for the first time since 2013.

The Sporting News runs through Djokovic's record at the All England Club and his projected (and possible) journey to the final.

Novak Djokovic next match

Djokovic will next face 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz in round four. That match is due to take place on Sunday, July 9.

Djokovic defeated old foe Stan Wawrinka in round three in straight sets. The experienced Swiss, who beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry in round two at Wimbledon, beat Djokovic in the final of the French Open in 2015. That was one of six wins in 27 attempts against the Serbian.

Australia's Jordan Thompson was superb against Djokovic in round two and only had a 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 defeat to show for his efforts.

He beat world No. 67 Pedro Cachin in the first round, coming through 6-3 6-3 7-6 (7-4) in a rain-delayed match on Centre Court.

Novak Djokovic's Wimbledon record

Djokovic has been the dominant men's singles player at Wimbledon over the past decade, winning the title on seven of the 11 occasions when the tournament has been held since 2011.

Now 36, Djokovic first appeared shortly after his 18th birthday in 2005, reaching the third round on a run that put him in the top 100 of the rankings for the first time.
