After losing her middleweight title, Savannah Marshall is ready to claim gold in another division. The Brit heads to super middleweight to face Franchon Crews-Dezurn for the latter’s undisputed super middleweight championship on July 1.

The fight takes place at the AO Arena in Manchester and airs on ESPN+ in the U.S. and Sky Sports in the U.K. This bout was intended to be the co-main event under Liam Smith vs. Chris Eubank Jr. 2, but Smith backed out due to an injury.

Crews-Dezurn turned pro in 2016, losing her first fight to future pound-for-pound superstar Claressa Shields. She defeated Maricela Cornejo in 2018 for the WBC super middleweight title and won the rematch in 2019 for the WBO belt. Finally, "The Heavy Hitting Diva” bested Elin Cederroos to win the IBF and WBA titles to become undisputed in April 2022.

Marshall is a former WBO middleweight champion. “The Silent Assassin” stopped Hannah Rankin in 2020 for the belt and successfully defended it three times. She last fought in October, losing to Shields in a bid to become the undisputed champ at the O2 Arena.

A win could bring Marshall closer to another title fight against Shields -- whom she did defeat in the amateur ranks -- though this time they would square off at super middleweight.

However, despite the fact that Marshall has 10 wins via knockout, Crews-Dezurn believes the weight change will be too much for her.

"The difference is she had ten years, ten months, and ten rounds to prepare for Claressa Shields. Myself, I had two and a half weeks, and Claressa is that good, so I give her credit there. But, for me, I'm just a different animal," Crews-Dezurn told Sky Sports.

"Going down to middleweight [for Marshall's previous title fights] made her a weight bully. But I'm a true super middleweight, and I feel like she'll feel the difference in power, physicality, and everything. It's going to be fun. She knows. The difference will be just facing me."
