Formula 1 fans watching from their couch can still be part of "The Grandstand" on Sundays.

Daniel Ricciardo has long been one of the most magnetic personalities on the grid; now, he will have an opportunity to showcase that personality and charm as co-host of ESPN's "The Grandstand," starting with the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix.

ESPN announced in June that Ricciardo and actor-comedian Will Arnett would host an alternate F1 broadcast, a format the network has grown accustomed to following in other sports (see: "Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli," aka the "Manningcast.") the eight-time grand prix winner will be an analyst for races in which he is not driving.

That gives the eight-time grand prix winner, who is Red Bull's third driver for the 2023 season, plenty of time to flash his signature smile next to a dude who makes people smile.

Why Daniel Ricciardo and Will Arnett have an F1 broadcast

Ricciardo is coming off a disastrous two-year stint with McLaren, with the driver asking out of his contract during the 2022 season. That led to free agency, but Ricciardo couldn't latch onto a team as a full-time driver. He ended back with Red Bull as the team's third driver.

Ricciardo, 33, still has some racing left in him. For now, his goal is to analyze the races and provide a friendly atmosphere.

"As you’d expect Will and I are going to have some fun with the show, but we’re hoping it just feels like you’re watching F1 with your mates," Ricciardo said in a press release. "We will have some amazing guests, plenty of laughs and with some luck, bring fans another step closer to the sport I love so much. Buckle up America!"

Like a sizable portion of American viewers, Arnett has emerged as an F1 fan in recent years, leading to his partnership with Ricciardo on the show. Arnett also hosted the "Fast & Loose Podcast" with F1 great and two-time champ Mika Hakkinen.

Akin to the "Manningcast," ESPN hopes to provide a less buttoned-down approach to the broadcast, bringing in guests to talk about the race and maybe make less-eventful GPs a bit more exciting with the hosts.

Formula 1 schedule 2023

The 2023 Formula 1 schedule heading into the first race of the season featured 23 total races, with the season beginning on March 5 in Bahrain and ending in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 26.

This year, the United States expansion continues. F1 plans for three races on American soil, with the Las Vegas Grand Prix joining the United States and Miami races.

The 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, originally scheduled for May 21, was canceled amid weather disasters in the region.
