The latest edition of The Match is for champions only.

"Splash Brothers" Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who have won four NBA titles together with the Warriors, are set to take on two-time Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in The Match at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas on Thursday.

We know Curry and Thompson rank among the greatest shooters in the history of basketball, while Mahomes and Kelce will be Pro Football Hall of Famers when all is said and done. But, what about their golf skills? That's all that will matter on Thursday.

Here's what you need to know about Curry's golf skills and what to expect when he takes to the course with Thompson in Las Vegas.

Is Stephen Curry good at golf?

As it turns out, the precision Curry displays on the basketball court translates pretty well to the golf course.

He's played four rounds on the Korn Ferry Tour, which serves as a developmental tour below the PGA Tour, and posted scores of 74, 74, 71, and 86. While he didn't make the cut in either of his two events, SFGATE spoke to golf professionals who believe Curry would be capable of making a cut if he committed to golf.

"He generates a really, really good amount of clubhead speed through the impact zone and, especially on his approach shots, he puts a lot of spin on the ball," Howard University golf coach Samuel Puryear told the outlet.

Santa Clara coach Andrew Larkin credited Curry with being able to do all of the basics well but said he wouldn't quite stack up against professional golfers.

"As the conditions and the demands of the course get harder, you have to be that much more refined in your skillset. And I think that’s probably where the next gap would be," Larkin told SFGATE.

While Curry may not be ready to play on the PGA Tour, there's a good chance he can be the best player on the course alongside Thompson, Mahomes, and Kelce — especially when he can do this:

Curry's outstanding 97-yard shot from 2022 helped put his golf game on the map, and the two-time NBA MVP will be the one to watch in a star-studded competition on Thursday.

What is Stephen Curry's handicap?

Curry's handicap is 0.1, which reinforces how capable he is on the golf course.

For comparison with other iconic athletes, Michael Jordan's handicap is 1.9, while Tom Brady's is as high as 9.3.

Mahomes entered his first iteration of The Match last year with a handicap of 7.7, while Kelce said in 2022 that his handicap was 11. Thompson's handicap of 15 is the worst of the field and could give the Chiefs' duo a chance by balancing out Curry's strengths.

Stephen Curry golf experience

Curry has plenty of golfing experience. He teamed up with Peyton Manning in a 2020 edition of The Match, taking on Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson. Barkley and Mickelson won pretty handily, but this time there won't be a professional golfer on the other team.

Beyond The Match, Curry has participated in celebrity golf tournaments and has made two appearances on the Korn Ferry Tour. Curry played in the Memorial Tournament Pro-Am earlier in June, shoring up his game before he comes under the spotlight in Las Vegas next to Thompson.

Like everything else he does, Curry takes his golf game seriously. Will that be enough for his first win in The Match?
