Formula One returns to one of its most iconic circuits this weekend as the action gets underway at Silverstone for the 2023 British Grand Prix.

As we've seen throughout the season, Red Bull's Max Verstappen comes into this latest race as the heavy favourite with the bookmakers.

But there's plenty of value to be found elsewhere if you're backing the upset this week. Home favourites Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have made decent strides in terms of improvement of late whilst Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz looked punchy last weekend in Austria.

Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez also remains dangerous despite his poor form of late given the seat that he occupies.

Ahead of the action, The Sporting News dives through all of the odds to give you the best bets and tips for the upcoming race.

F1 British Grand Prix 2023: Best bet

  • Pick: Aston Martin double points finish
  • Odds: -175 (BetMGM)

With a double points finish at the Red Bull Ring last weekend, we're expecting the Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll to repeat that feat this time around at Silverstone.

Alonso has been Mr Consistency this season, finishing in the top five seven times out of eight and taking a podium spot on six occasions.

He's not the concern for this bet. Instead, it's Canadian driver Stroll who gives this selection a bit more value.

The son of AM team owner Lawrence Stroll, the 24-year-old has largely struggled to keep pace with his veteran teammate despite the equal machinery. That said, he did show plenty of fight last time out in Austria to obtain another points finish, his sixth of the year. Since upgrades to the car, he's finished in the top 10 in three straight races and we expect him to continue that trend at Silverstone.

F1 British Grand Prix 2023: Prop bet

  • Pick: Hamilton, Norris & Russell points finish
  • Odds: 8/11 (SkyBet)

Given it's the British Grand Prix, why not back the home favourites to finish in the top 10 this weekend?

Hamilton loves it at this track, only finishing outside the points once in 17 attempts, whilst his teammate Russell has found solid form of late, delivering points-paying finishes in each of his past 13 races when not suffering a DNF.

On top of that, McLaren finally delivered car upgrades last weekend in Spielberg, which saw Norris claim a remarkable P4 finish that will boost his confidence even further for this latest Silverstone showdown.

F1 British Grand Prix 2023: Flier bet

  • Pick: Hamilton, Perez & Verstappen to complete the podium
  • Odds: 11/4 (SkyBet)

While Verstappen remains almost certain for a podium finish unless he suffers a car problem, value in this selection comes from the inclusion of teammate Perez and rival Hamilton to finish in the top three on Sunday.

The Mexican driver has been in torrid form of late, especially in recent qualifying sessions, but even after starting P15 last weekend for the Austrian Grand Prix, he still finished on the podium thanks to his car's phenomenal performance. As such, another top-three finish at Silverstone seems likely.

On Hamilton, it's difficult not to back the decorated Brit for another top-three finish in this race. He's finished on the podium in each of the past nine years here and, of late, his Mercedes has seemed stronger than at the beginning of this season, finishing in the top three in two of the past three outings.
