The Mets entered the 2023 MLB season as one of the favorites to contend for a World Series title. That hasn't come to fruition thus far.

Despite boasting MLB's highest payroll at $343.6 million, per Spotrac.com, the Mets have boasted a losing record for most of the campaign. They are well behind the NL East-leading Braves and have a lot of work to do to climb in the wild-card standings as well.

What has gone wrong for the Mets? Well, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander haven't been as dominant as the team had hoped, and the team hasn't gotten much production outside of them and Kodai Senga.

Meanwhile, the team has gotten strong power numbers from Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso on offense, but they have ranked just middle-of-the-pack in on-base percentage. And outside of those two, the team hasn't gotten run production from too many players, so that is fueling their worse-than-expected start.

Still, the Mets have plenty of talent, and there's a good chance that they will make a push into the postseason race at some point this season. MLB fans will want to keep an eye on them as such, so here's how to watch Mets games for the rest of the season.

Mets live streams

The Mets play a majority of their games on SportsNet New York (SNY), a regional sports network owned by Sterling Entertainment Enterprises. That company is owned, in part, by former Mets owner Fred Wilpon, whose Sterling Equities owns a 65 percent interest in that company.

Fubo carries SNY, which makes the streaming service one of the best options to carry Mets games throughout the 2023 season.

Fans can sign up for Fubo's Pro or Elite packages, both of which carry SNY, in addition to 174 channels. Fubo also carries a free trial

How to watch Mets games without cable

There are numerous ways to catch Mets games throughout the 2023 season without cable, though MLB's blackout rules will still apply to the contests.

— Those in the New York market can use Fubo to watch SNY, as the streaming service carries the Mets' official regional sports network. Viewers in the New York area will be able to watch Mets matchups throughout the 2023 season on Fubo, which also carries Fox, ESPN, MLB Network and FS1. However, those outside of the New York market will not be able to access SNY on Fubo, though they can still access the national networks.

— Those living the New York market can also use DirecTV Stream and Hulu + Live TV to catch games on SNY. DirecTV Stream and Hulu + Live TV also carry networks like Fox, ESPN and FS1, so fans will be able to watch a majority of Mets games on those networks as well. The big difference between the two services is that DirecTV Stream carries MLB Network while Hulu + Live TV does not.

— YouTube TV and Sling TV will stream nationally televised games broadcast on Fox, ESPN, TBS and FS1. That will give cord-cutters another streaming option to watch national games. That said, neither streaming service carries SNY, as Sling never had it while YouTube TV is set to drop it as of July 1, barring a change in contract discussions between the company and the network.

YouTube TV has expressed an interest in continuing conversations with SNY. Still, those that have been accessing the network via that service will need to find an alternative unless a deal is officially reached on or before July 1.
